Social Tip

SocialTip is a social monetization platform that allows users to earn by posting about brands they purchase. I joined as the sole product designer, responsible for the core user journey — from onboarding through earnings — across the iOS app.

Key Metric

Verification drop-off rate

SocialTip requires proof content was posted and proof of purchase before payout — but users weren't told this until after they'd already posted. Many discovered the requirements too late, got confused or rejected, and dropped off before ever getting paid. Reducing that drop-off was the single highest-leverage change to make, since it sits directly on top of the app's core promise: get paid, no influencer status required.

Design System

Before tackling flows, I established a visual foundation — color, typography, spacing tokens, and a library of reusable components to keep the product consistent as it scaled.

Engaging the new user

Problem

After registration, users landed on an empty home screen with no guidance. Without context or a clear next step, most dropped off immediately.

Solution

Added a first-time onboarding state that explained the empty screen and directed users to create their first post — turning confusion into action.

Syncing a post

Problem

Users had no sense of progress while creating a post. Syncing to Instagram and TikTok comes with real platform restrictions, and the app needed to walk people through several required steps before a post could be verified — but there was no clear way to show where someone stood in that process.

Solution

Instead of surfacing all the instructions at once, we replaced them with a progress bar. It tells the user two things at a glance — how far they've come, and how much is left — without listing out every remaining step. This keeps them moving toward completion without the friction of reading through a wall of instructions.

Brand page

Problem

Low content quality from users left brands dissatisfied with how they were represented on the platform.

Solution

Redesigned the brand page for clearer identity and added in-context content tips to guide users toward higher-quality posts — better-quality posts are less likely to fail verification, indirectly reducing drop-off at the final step.

Wallet

Problem

The earnings screen felt technical and untrustworthy, undermining confidence in the platform's core promise.

Solution

Introduced a friendlier, more polished visual language — clear earning states, visual hierarchy, and reassuring microcopy. With expectations already set correctly upstream, the wallet's job is simply to confirm trust, not explain confusion.
